Calculate Pool in ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants
The calculators on this site also work inside AI assistants. Ask ChatGPT or Claude how many gallons your pool holds or how much chlorine to add, and the answer is computed with the same code as the pages here, not guessed.
How to connect
ChatGPT: once the Calculate Pool app is listed in the ChatGPT app directory, add it from there and pick it in a chat. Until then, with developer mode switched on, add a custom app with the address https://calculatepool.com/mcp.
Claude: in Settings → Connectors, choose "Add custom connector" and enter https://calculatepool.com/mcp?src=claude. No sign-in is needed.
Other MCP clients: use https://calculatepool.com/mcp?src=mcp (remote MCP server, Streamable HTTP, JSON-RPC over POST, no authentication). It is listed in the MCP Registry as com.calculatepool/calculatepool.
What the assistant can calculate
| Tool | Returns |
|---|---|
Pool volume in gallonspool_volume | Gallons, litres and cubic feet for rectangle, round, oval, Roman, Grecian, kidney, L-shape and freeform pools, with a sloped floor or an above-ground wall height. |
Pool chemical dosechemical_dose | How much liquid chlorine, bleach, cal-hypo, dichlor, trichlor, salt, baking soda, stabilizer, calcium chloride, muriatic acid or soda ash to add, with the package count. |
Pool pump flow ratepump_size | Flow rate for a turnover time, a horsepower range, minimum filter area and pipe velocity. |
Pool heater BTU sizeheater_size | Heater BTU per hour to raise the water a number of degrees in a set time, with a buffer for heat loss. |
Standard pool sizes in gallonspool_facts | The standard-sizes table: gallons of common inground and above-ground pools. |
Every tool only reads and calculates. None of them changes anything, stores anything or needs an account.
Same numbers as the site
The server imports the same calculation modules as the calculator pages, and the automated tests check both against known answers before every release. For example:
- 16 × 32 ft pool sloping from 3 to 8 ft: 21,065 gallons (79,740 litres).
- Raise free chlorine by 2 ppm in 15,000 gallons with 12.5 % liquid chlorine: 32.1 fl oz.
- Turn over 20,000 gallons in 8 hours: 41.7 gpm.
- Heat 20,000 gallons by 20 °F in 24 hours: 139,000 BTU/h, or 173,750 BTU/h with a 25 % buffer for heat loss.
Things to ask
- "How many gallons is a 24 ft round above-ground pool with a 52 inch wall?"
- "My pool is 18 by 36 feet, 3.5 to 6 feet deep. How much salt do I need to get from 1,800 to 3,200 ppm?"
- "How much muriatic acid lowers my 20,000 gallon pool from pH 7.9 to 7.5?"
- "What pump flow do I need to turn over 25,000 gallons in 6 hours?"
Privacy and limits
The assistant sends the server only the numbers a calculation needs: dimensions, depths, gallons, chemical levels, hours and degrees. It never needs names, addresses or photos, and our code does not store or log what it receives. Your conversation itself is processed by the assistant's provider under its own privacy policy. Details: privacy policy, terms of use.
Results are estimates. Test the water before dosing, follow the product label, and add one chemical at a time. The server names no products or prices and links only to pages of this site.
